Fresh paint, clean tiles, installed lighting fixtures, completed cabinets, and a newly painted facade can make a house look ready for occupancy. But appearance alone does not mean the project is ready for turnover. Before accepting the house, making the final payment, or moving your furniture inside, you must verify whether the structure, finishes, electrical system, plumbing, roofing, waterproofing, drainage, doors, windows, and documents have been properly completed.
