Ask for Clear Scope, Inclusions, and Exclusions

Before you sign with any contractor, ask this first:
“What exactly is included in the quotation?”
A construction quote should not be vague. It should clearly show the scope, materials, labor, timeline, and exclusions.
Many homeowners get surprised later because they assumed something was included—but it was not written.
Ask for details like:
Inclusions
Materials, labor, structural works, finishing, roofing, plumbing, electrical, painting, supervision, and project management.
Exclusions
Permits, fence, gate, landscaping, hauling, utilities, soil works, drainage, upgrades, appliances, and change orders.
Specifications
Tile size, paint brand, ceiling type, roofing material, fixtures, doors, windows, and wall system.
Payment terms
When to pay, how much per milestone, and what work must be completed before release.
A clear scope protects your budget. Clear inclusions prevent confusion. Clear exclusions avoid future arguments.
